Indian paprika offers better value at lower grades (ASTA 80–120), with prices typically 10–25% lower than comparable Chinese grades.
Which origin has the best processing technology?¶
China has the most advanced processing infrastructure among major paprika origins, with large-scale automated grinding, AI-powered color sorting, and in-house testing labs. Spain offers sophisticated traditional smoking and grinding for premium PDO products. India and Peru are developing their processing capabilities but currently rely more on manual sorting and sun-drying.
Which paprika origin is best for organic production?¶
Peru has natural advantages for organic production (lower pesticide use baseline, established organic certification infrastructure) and exports significant volumes of organic paprika. China has the largest absolute organic production but faces certification recognition gaps. India offers growing organic capacity with EU/USDA certification but at limited scale.
